I got the Pomegranate lip balm a few weeks ago, and recently decided to get the Toffee one as well :3
And I'm glad I did! The Toffee lip balm is by far my favorite lip balm ever.
Here's my review and swatches of the lip balms:
Brand: The Body Shop
Name: Born Lippy Toffee / Pomegranate Lip Balm
Price: about 5$
Amount: 5g
The Pomegranate lip balm is very subtle, it gives a nice shine and, let's say, intensifies your lip color. Its color is an orange-based red. I suppose the Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm is a pink-based red ;) I already own soo many pink/red tinted lip balms so, yea, I really didn't need another one.
The Toffee lip balm is less shiny but gives more color. Here are the swatches on my hand:

...and on my lips:
The Body Shop Born Lippy Toffee Stick Lip Balm:
The bad ingredients are Homosalate, which is used as a UV-filter, and this reeally long word that's basically the same (also a UV-filter). The pigment (stuff :D) in the Toffee Lip Balm is also not the best, but okay. Considering that this lip balm contains 21 ingredients which are really good for you, I think we can ignore the bad ingredients ;)
The Body Shop Born Lippy Pomegranate Stick Lip Balm:
It contains the same UV-filters as the Toffee lip balm, but the pigments/coloring is woorse! It's an aromatic amine which was tested on animals and proven to be tumorigenic. Well...fuck? I mean there's only a very little amount of it in the lip balm but... it's still kind of scary right?
Like I said in the beginning, the Toffee lip balm has become my favorite one... ever!^^ It is extremely moisturizing - I only need to reapply every 4 hours or so (usually it's more like every 30 minutes for me). Also, am I the only one whose lips tend to get "addicted" to certain lip balms? Sometimes when I continuously use a certain lip balm, my lips start getting dry so quickly! So I need to reapply every few minutes because my lips have somehow become used to being moisturized. Anyway, it's not like this with these lip balms.
The Pomegranate lip balm is less moisturizing than the Toffee one though, for whatever reason.
And have I mentioned the scents? The Toffee lip balm is like a caramel-coffee-sensation :D (It doesn't taste like anything).
And the Pomegranate lip balm just smells like cherry, which I really like.
I also really like the brownish color of the Toffee balm on my lips. It's a very warm color and makes my face look healthier, especially in winter. In general, the Pomegranate lip balm is a very nice one but nothing special and, for that, a little pricey. The Toffee one, though, was worth every single cent!
Here's a little conclusion for you guys:
Born Lippy Toffee Stick Lip Balm:
Pros: Very moisturizing, awesome scent, glides on easily, need to reapply every 4-5 hours, not "addictive"
Cons: -
Born Lippy Pomegranate Stick Lip Balm:
Pros: Awesome scent, glides on easily, not "addictive"
Cons: Not too moisturizing, need to reapply about every 2 hours, contains Ci 19140

I hope this was helpful for the fellow Googlers who were looking for a review :D

Ooh, they sound like really moisturising lip balms!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that The Body Shop sold them! The toffee one sounds absolutely amazing! And the Pomegranate one too, but tumorigenic? That actually is kinda scary. -.-

They are :3 Aside from that Ci 19140 stuff. But I noticed that a lot of cosmetic products contain tumorigenic ingredients. I don't think they will cause cancer because there's only a very little amount of those ingredients in them - but I will definitely pay attention and not use them a lot because... ugh ><
DeleteThe toffee one looks really good! i have four of them and i love them all to bits!
